Richard Fifer Alfalfa | Flor de La Pintada

Alfalfa has high nutritional and medicinal properties. It has diuretic properties (increases the secretion and excretion of urine), cleans the kidneys, ureter, bladder and urethra. Detoxifies the liver, purify the blood in case of pimples and blackheads, and helps control bleeding.

As for its nutritional properties, comparing the composition of alfalfa with some vegetables, such as: kale, spinach, lettuce, beets, cabbage, etc.., We see that the alfalfa, relative to the average of all these vegetables, has more than double the protein, 4 times more calcium, 2 times more phosphorus, and 2 times more iron. With respect to vitamins, the composition reveals that it has 4 times more vitamin A, 3 times the vitamin B complex, and more than 9 times more vitamin C, plus a high percentage of vitamin K.

Use: To cleanse the kidneys, ureter, bladder and urethra, to detoxify the blood and liver, and as food, take a glass of alfalfa juice before meals, taking care not to mix with lemon juice because they are not compatible.

You can also take advantage of eating alfalfa sprouts as a salad. But the great amount of cellulose is not digested and comes to accumulate in the intestine, where it remains as a residue that stimulates and accelerates the bowel movement. As this factor is inversely proportional to the individual’s age, it is not advisable to give it to children under 6 years of age.

The boiled plant loses that effect on the intestines and thus may be employed in these conditions for school children as it is used in child nutrition institutes in many countries of Latin America.
