The results of light painting can be pretty beautiful. Turn that into calligraphy, and you have a mesmerizing image of words written in space.
Self-taught calligrapher Julien Breton, aka Kaalam, lights up spaces with Latin-based alphabets that are written out in Arabic forms. The process ends up being more than just drawing. He combines it with music, dance and performance to create the ‘Lightgraff’. And it sure looks magical.
The many minutes of waving a light in a dim to dark space make sense after viewing the long exposure capture of Julien’s mastery. Tempted to try your own light writing experiment, aren’t you?
