Darth Vader the 'Star Wars' villain

We have to admit it: we love the 80’s. Who doesn’t like all those neon colors, the big shoulder pads, the parachute pants, the Members Only jacket, the oversize tops, the big hair and many, many others. I mean, fashion-wise what other decade allowed you to wear leg warmers, a sweater and a miniskirt all at once? Of course there were the Rubik cubes, boom boxes, break dancing, we wanted our MTV and our Swatch watches.

We can go on and on, but today we want to show you a project inspired by horror 80s films. Conceived by Federico Chiesa, who simply asked himself: What if the scariest 80′s film horror characters were alive now? How would they look like?

The photographer and creative director teamed up with makeup artist and stylist Carolina Trotta to create these photographs, which surely will take you down memory lane.

‘Horror Vacui’ (latin for ‘fear of empty space’) presents the villains from iconic films such as Nightmare on Elm Street, The Shinning, Halloween, Star Wars and Friday the 13th. The team imagined them in their old age…Thanks to these images we need to fear no more of these scary bad guys.

This project reminds me of From Enchantment to Down, the series conceived by photographer Thomas Czarnecki where he proposed an alternative ending to famous fairy tales.
