Today’s post is about a multi-talented young Italian artist whose intoxicating use of color is taking Europe by a storm. Born in Rome, Andrea Ambrogio is also a musician. He was one of the leading singers of the now defunct band In the Panchine. But no worries, he just got signed up by a record label to launch his solo career. Hopefully he will also design the art for his own covers.

In 2006 he received his degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, presenting a thesis on the controversial contemporary artist Gino De Dominicis.

Andrea Ambrogio divides his compositions like a puzzle with “toxic cards”. There is a total fragmentation in his work composed of his intentional use of color inconsistencies, the final impact results in a figurative architecture.

Andrea’s work acts like camouflage overlays, displacing memories and impulses, passions and complaints, harmonies and differences. In his ouevre we can find the influence of artists like Hundertwasser, the childish instinct of Jean Dubuffet, all mixed up with a pop metropolis attitude.
Places, people, fantasies, but also the lived reality, metabolized with a high visual content, that ‘s what he offers with his superb style and amazing art.

Among his latest works are collaborations with international artists like New Yorker writer Chris Leo for his book “Feathers like leather” published by Heartworm Press. He’s been part of famous events such as the prestigious bicycle race Giro d’Italia sponsored by Nike’s “Livestrong. ” He provided the artwork for the official album cover of the popular 2011 London Festival of Electronic Music Secretsundaze.

Most recently, he attended a charity event in support of a voluntary association celebrating an evening of music and art. He teamed up with award winning composer Ezio Bosso in a live painting session creating a unique experience of profound sensory immersion. A concert of music and visual elements, for what you might call a figurative jam session (See the video below).
